Directions to Omaio Garden

194 Whitmore Road, Matakana
Omaio is located only 10 minutes from magical Matakana and 1 hour north of the Auckland Harbour bridge.
Once you reach Matakana go straight through the roundabout at Matakana and over the bridge.
Travel about 1 kilometer and turn right at intersection which has a sign to Omaha and Point Wells. Turn right at roundabout into Takatu Road and take first road on right which is Whitmore Road with sign to Buckletons Beach. Drive for 4.5 km. Slow down here as you are nearly there. You will then see a Tuscan style two storied house on your left painted dark orange, and beyond that a row of 4 letter boxes on the left and behind them a numbered “PRIVATE ROAD NO ENTRY” sign. Omaio is number 194. Turn left into the Private Road – it veers right at the black barn. Drive to the end where you will see the “OMAIO 194” sign – it is the last driveway on the left. At bottom of sealed driveway turn sharp right and park in the carport.

I loved your garden. It is a soul. Your garden has a sense of place of where it is and what it is. Therefore it is unique. All a unity and a garden that is like no other and which could not be anywhere else in the whole world. Of course, it is well-groomed too.Margaret Barker, Larnach Castle
